HEAVEN RIDDIM produced by TRINITY 1999
Heaven Overview
The roots instrumental known as the Heaven Riddim took shape in a Kingston studio in 1999. The session brought musicians together with a focus on live, organic sounds. The producer, TRINITY, guided the project with his deep knowledge of the sound system scene. TRINITY was already respected in reggae for his work as a deejay and producer, and he had released music on several well-known labels in Jamaica. TRINITY wanted the Heaven Riddim to feel both uplifting and grounded. He made sure the rhythm section kept a steady, rootsy pulse, so vocalists could shine. His creative direction helped the riddim stand out, giving it a timeless quality that fans still talk about today. The first artist to voice the riddim was Heaven, who delivered the track "Version." This instrumental cut let the music breathe, showing off the warm bass and steady drums. Next came President Brown with "Behold." President Brown is known for his conscious lyrics and steady flow. He has had several hits in the reggae world, including "Crown Him" and "Mouth of the Lion." On "Behold," he brought his signature style to the riddim. Sugar Black and Lehbanchuleh joined forces for "Troddin On." Their harmonies and positive lyrics added another layer to the project. The Heaven Riddim became a favorite for selectors and reggae fans, and its legacy continues more than twenty years later.
