Heated Temptations comes off as a leaner, more direct dancehall set from Live Rounds Productions, with the 2014 cut carrying seven artists across ten tracks and a couple of clean/raw doubles for the club and the selector. The standout names here are Darrio, Rickey Teetz and Ryme Minista, while Blade Skeemaz, Chilando, Hyporak and Zagga keep the riddim moving in different voices. Darrio’s “Flying High” drew its own single treatment, which says a lot about how the project was being pushed at the time, but the real draw is the riddim bed itself: stripped-back, bass-forward, with a tight four-on-the-floor bounce and enough room for the singers and DJs to ride the pocket cleanly. It’s the kind of mid-tempo dancehall groove that stays clipped and functional, ending up with the low end doing most of the talking.
