Fuse Riddim – Star Music

2014 was still deep in the era when dancehall riddims could carry heavyweight names and keep the mix lean, and Fuse Riddim does exactly that with just four cuts from Star Music. Bounty Killer’s “Winner” sets the tone with that hard-edged, no-nonsense energy he was still leaning on so effectively in the 2010s, while Beenie Man and Omari’s “Love and Peace” brings a lighter, more singalong swing to the project. Determine’s “Bad People” keeps the pressure on, and “Gallis (Pt 2)” from Jah Jah and Ashea closes things out with a cheekier party pull. It dropped in October 2014, which puts it right in that busy late-year stretch when straight-to-the-point dancehall singles and small riddim packages were still doing serious work on the scene.
