Guideline Riddim – Mnation Records

Guideline Riddim lands in the 2021 dancehall run with a compact, speaker-rattling set from Mnation Records, first appearing in November that year. The riddim itself has that lean, rubbery bounce that leaves room for the vocals to cut through, and the best of the bunch play the lane differently: Iseejahhigh’s “Tenament Yard” leans into streetwise grit, Jayo doubles up with both clean and raw takes of “Jungle, ” and Cassafaya’s “Woman Problems” brings a sharper, more restless edge. Mnation also keeps two instrumentals on hand, in short and long versions, which makes the release feel like a producer’s calling card as much as a vocal showcase. It sits neatly inside that early-2020s dancehall pattern where a few strong voices ride one pattern from different angles and let the beat do plenty of the talking.
