Out of the 2016 dancehall run, Groupy Fun Riddim feels like one of those compact street-level projects that catches a particular moment in the scene and leaves it humming. Rokwon Productions keeps the juggling brisk and unfussy, with enough swing in the rhythm to give songs like George P’s “Gal A Falla” and Boomaz’s “Money Season” some quick-footed bite, while Albeeno’s “Ben Her Up” leans into the same taut, energetic pocket without overcomplicating it. Damion Matic Hill’s title cut ties the whole thing together with a plainspoken hook that sits right in the middle of the compilation’s mood. It’s a small set, really, but that’s part of the charm.
