Go Go Club Riddim – Head Concussion Records

Go Go Club Riddim lands right in the middle of Rvssian’s early Head Concussion run, back when his productions were starting to define the Portmore-era dancehall sound. He has said he made the riddim in less than five minutes, and that quick, instinctive feel is part of why it hit so hard. The beat is built for the dance, with a sharp, skittering bounce and a nightclub pulse that leaves plenty of room for deejays to ride it hard.

The strongest cuts are the ones that match that raw energy with clear personalities. Vybz Kartel’s “Go Go Club” is the anchor, and it is easy to hear why it became the title track. Demarco’s “A Nuh Whore” came in clean and raw versions, turning the same idea into a double dose of attitude. Black Ryno’s “Bike Back” keeps the momentum moving, while Konshens and Darrio’s “Do D Ting” adds a more playful, bounce-heavy swing. Gaza Kim and Lisa Hype’s “Bill” brings a female counterpoint that fits the riddim’s after-hours pressure.

The project also pulled in Leftside, Merital, Ding Dong, Delly Ranks with Chino, and other voices from the same dancehall moment, giving the riddim a real juggling feel instead of a one-song showcase.
