Global Selection Riddim – House Of Riddim

House of Riddim came through in 2012 with Global Selection, a roots-heavy juggling built for conscious voices. The Austrian crew had already earned a strong reputation for polished modern reggae productions, and this one pushes that line with a clean, melodic bed, sturdy bass, bright horn accents, and a sax touch from Dean Fraser that gives the riddim extra lift.

The project opens up space for a wide spread of artists without losing its shape. Jah Mason’s “Corruption” brings the militant edge he has long been known for, while Chuck Fenda and Deliman’s “Black and White” adds a sharper, more direct clash-energy feel. Bryan Art’s “Nah Fraid A Dem” and Natty King’s “Memories” sit comfortably in the conscious lane, with the latter especially suited to the warmer side of the arrangement. Suga Roy and Conrad Chrystal’s “Leaders Promote War” keeps the message pointed, and Sylford Walker’s “Helping Hand” gives the selection a veteran roots weight that sits well against the cleaner, contemporary mix.

There is enough variety here to keep the juggling moving, but the common thread is clear: message music first, gloss second. “Give Thanks and Praise” from Papa Michigan brings a seasoned, rootsy close to the vocal side, and the presence of names like Israel Voice, Shemaiah, Troy Anthony, Zareb, Benji, Pupa Condor, Hawkeye, Smiley, Ras Mac Bean and Ghettoman helps underline how widely House of Riddim can cast the same rhythm without losing cohesion.
