Ganja Morning Riddim – Green Lion Crew

Back in 2015, when a lot of reggae riddims were chasing cleaner digital polish, Green Lion Crew kept Ganja Morning Riddim rooted in a more dubwise, roots-conscious space, and they did it with just six cuts. The heart of it is the pairing of King Mas on “As I Rise” and Mikey General with Mr Williamz on “Ganja Morning, ” a tune that leans into a relaxed weed-chronicled groove without getting sleepy. The dub versions push the same pattern deeper, especially “Steam and Chang Dub, ” which gives the rhythm extra room to wobble and echo, while “Ganja Field Dub” keeps the mood hazy and heavy. Released in September 2015 as a six-track EP, it sits right in that moment when Green Lion Crew were making their name for polished Jamaica-linked productions with a tougher, more adventurous edge.
