Gallowas Riddim – Greensleeves Records was issued in 1993 as a straight-up dancehall set built around a small but sharp three-track lineup: Mad Cobra’s Gallowas, Red Dragon’s Sweetheart, and Red Rose and Malvo Crew’s Gallowas Version. Greensleeves Records, the UK label founded in 1975, brought a lot of Jamaican dancehall to wider audiences, and this cut fits neatly into that legacy with its lean, hooky approach. Mad Cobra was already a major name at the time, coming off the momentum that would later take him to international crossover success. The riddim’s most distinctive trait is its tight, hypnotic feel, which gives the whole release a focused, yard-style energy.
