The bashment rhythm is a key sound in dancehall music. In 1993, this rhythm was played at many parties and dance events across Jamaica. It brought people together and made everyone want to dance. The energy of the bashment style helped shape the dancehall scene of that time. This rhythm was produced by STONE LOVE, one of Jamaica’s most respected sound systems and production teams. STONE LOVE started in the 1970s and became famous for their powerful sound and influence on reggae and dancehall music. They have worked with many top artists and are known for their classic productions. On this rhythm, Baby Wayne Feat. Powerman delivered “Wicked So,” a track full of strong lyrics and energy. Powerman also appeared on “Wicked So — Wicked So.” Beenie Man, who later won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2001, added his song “Matie.” Frisco Kid brought “Step Up Inna Life,” while Harry Toddler performed “Man From When.” Each artist added their own style to the rhythm.
