Anotha One Productions set Forgive I Jah Riddim in motion with a roots-heavy cut that leans on deep bass, skanking guitars and a patient one-drop feel, then lets a wide cast of voices move through it with real purpose. The lineup stretches from Ray Isaacs, Black I and Black Prophet to Jahwyz, Sena Dagadu and Sevad, with a little extra movement coming from Mancris Lovaile’s French-language turn and Sabolious’ dubby “Saxical Dubfare. ” Most of the project stays rooted in conscious reggae, but it also leaves room for sharper, more personal angles, especially on “Life Is A Journey” and “Thanks and Praise. ” The late-project pairing of Naptali and Luciano on “Struggles Of Life” feels like the one everybody circles back to, and it gives the riddim its clearest finishing point.
