Still sounding like one of Mina’s globe-trotting dispatches, Flight Paths (Afrobeats Type) maps out a dancehall set with an Afrobeats feel and a guest list that keeps pulling the rhythm in fresh directions, from Bryte popping up on “Texas” and “One Leg” to Amaarae on “Platinum Sex” and 45DiBoss on “Major. ” Mina’s production keeps the low end nimble and the percussion sharp, so even when the melodies turn bright and playful there’s still enough weight under it to keep the riddim moving, and the London-based producer folds in voices from Ghana, Brazil and beyond without losing the project’s dancehall core. The album dropped in 2019 on Earth Kicks and runs 12 tracks deep, with “Infinity Riddim, ” “Meu Jeito” and “Sirens” helping to stretch the set across the full sequence.
