Fire Pin Riddim – Highdon Entertainment

Fire Pin Riddim lands a little cleaner and leaner than some of Highdon Entertainment’s darker, war-ready dancehall work, but it still keeps that same sharp-edged tension running through the cut. Sikka Rymes’ “One Inna Dem Head” and Tommy Lee Sparta’s “Born Wicked” feel like the obvious hooks here, riding a clipped, percussive groove that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to cut through while the whole thing stays tense and forward-driving. D’east, Don Tempo, Javie J, Kacique, Urbann and Winna Maxx each get a turn on the eight-song set, and the project runs just under half an hour, with “Born Wicked” and “Release Di Grain” among the tracks that lock into the riddim fastest.
