Face Time Riddim – Island Jams Entertainment

By 2015, Island Jams Entertainment had put together a tidy little dancehall set on Face Time Riddim, and the hook is the cast as much as the rhythm itself: Sizzla opens with “One Bag A Talk, ” Gully Bop cuts in with Sim Sim on “Wine Fi Di Bop, ” and Iyara’s “Life (Mek Wi Live it)” gives the project its most grounded pull. It’s a seven-track drop, so the pacing stays focused, with no wasted space around the vocalists. The production sits in that mid-tempo, jerkier dancehall pocket, leaving room for chatter-style delivery, a few chant-heavy turns, and the kind of bass line that keeps the whole thing moving without crowding the singers. Mr Peppa’s “Badmind” and Jah Shawn’s “Mi Nuh Grow Soft” lean into the same clipped, on-the-beat feel, which is really the riddim’s calling card.
