Explosion Riddim – Hyaklass Records

Hyaklass Records keeps this one tight and very much in the 2019 dancehall pocket, with only three cuts and two vocalists on the board. Ras Ajai’s “Long Mi A Wait” opens things with a patient, streetwise pull, then Dan Java comes through twice on “Konnect, ” once raw and once clean, which gives the riddim a little extra shape without crowding it out. The track lengths stay lean, just around the three-minute mark, so the whole thing moves like a quick flash rather than a long-form showcase. What lingers most is Dan Java’s “Konnect, ” especially in the raw version, where the vocal sits right in the center of the beat and gives the release its sharpest edge.
