EVERY TONGUE SHALL TELL RIDDIM produced by PENTHOUSE 2015
Every Tongue Shall Tell Overview
The Every Tongue Shall Tell Riddim project started in the studio with a simple idea: bring together some of reggae’s most respected voices over a fresh roots rhythm. The studio team wanted a classic reggae sound, but with a modern touch. They worked carefully on the arrangements, making sure each song felt smooth but still powerful. At the center of this project was the legendary producer Penthouse. Penthouse has been a big name in reggae since the late 1980s, known for working with artists like Buju Banton and Beres Hammond. Their label is famous for high-quality productions and for keeping the roots of reggae alive, even as styles change over the years. Each artist brought their own flavor to the riddim. Dalton Harris delivered “I’M Numb,” showing off his strong voice and emotional style. Exco Levi’s “Youths Dem So Violent” speaks directly to the struggles of young people, with lyrics that make you stop and think. Horace Andy, a true reggae veteran, gave us “Every Tongue Shall Tell,” filled with his unique, soulful sound. Ky and Mani Marley teamed up for “My Heart Cries,” blending their voices for a heartfelt performance. Lone Ranger also voiced “Every Tongue Shall Tell,” adding his classic deejay style to the mix. Tony Rebel appears twice, first with “Jah Is Always There,” a song full of faith, and again with “Rebel Speaks Again,” bringing his signature conscious lyrics. This roots anthology quickly became a favorite in reggae sessions. Its timeless sound and strong messages made it a staple for fans and selectors. Today, the Every Tongue Shall Tell Riddim stands as an important chapter in reggae history.
