Edens Rage Riddim – Irie Ites Records

Lean and percussive, the Edens Rage Riddim finds Irie Ites working a tight 2008 roots set with just four cuts, and the format leaves plenty of room for each voice to breathe. Luciano and Spectacular open it with “What Gwaan Bad, ” a sharp pairing that sets the tone, while Ras Mc Bean’s “Why Do The Edens Rage” keeps the pressure on with a steadier, more reflective edge. The two Mafia and Fluxy sides bookend the project properly: “Gwaan Dub In The Morning” leans into their dubwise touch, and the title track is the bare riddim cut that lets the pulse and low end do the talking. Released as Edens Rage Riddim, Vol. 03 in October 2008, it’s the Luciano/Spectacular cut that leaves the strongest imprint.
