Earth Shaker Riddim leans hard into that lean, springy late-2000s dancehall pulse, with a sharp digital bounce and enough low-end thump to keep the whole thing moving like it was built for a sound system corner. The best-known pull here is Aidonia’s “Good Body Gyal, ” but the project gets more interesting in the way Kari Jess comes at it from two angles, first with the charged “A War” and then the more mischievous “Hatta Dan Dem By Far, ” while Shane O’s “Tight Eeh” adds a younger, rough-edged energy to the set. It’s a small five-track promo-style release, yet it says a lot about 2008 dancehall, when compact one-riddim runs were still carrying plenty of weight and giving newer voices room beside established names.
