Dove Riddim – Buzwakk Records

A taut, mid-tempo dancehall groove with a little street dust on it, Dove Riddim feels like the kind of Buzwakk cut that was made to let the singjay lines ride the pocket without getting too polished. Harry Toddler’s “Horney” is the quick hook you notice first, but Mr Easy’s “Sen On” and Bucky Jo with Prezerv on “Lifestyle” give the riddim its shape, keeping things lean and conversational over a nine-track run. Buzwakk Records has Bucky Jo credited on the production side, which fits the set’s rough-edged, no-frills energy, and the inclusion of later cut “Bout Fren” rounds the thing out with a slightly looser, more playful turn. It’s one of those 2015 juggling projects that moves fast, with “Weed Talk” sneaking in near the end like an afterthought.
