Double Up Riddim (2016) – Pressure Dem Records

Pressure Dem Records lines up a tidy 10-track soca set here, and the draw is as much the mix of voices as the titles themselves: Elephant Man opens with “Dance And Move, ” while Turbulence, Jah Mason, and Danny English keep the energy moving through “Real Estate, ” “Farmer Man, ” and “Ugly. ” Released in April 2016, the riddim sits in that punchy, party-minded lane, with Natanja’s “Bubble It” and Kanvers’ “Whine Up Yuh Body” pushing the dancefloor angle a little harder than the rest. Danny English also turns up twice, which gives the compilation a bit of extra shape without overloading it. The sequencing is neat and deliberate, ending the run with Pressure Dem Records’ own instrumental so the voice tracks do the talking first and the riddim gets its last word at the finish.
