DAMSEL PANDIMONIUM RIDDIM produced by RUDE BOY/SHOCKING VIBES 1996
Damsel Pandimonium Overview
The Damsel Pandimonium Riddim bashment release brought together a strong set of tracks that filled dancehall parties in 1996. The lineup featured Alley Cat with “Erotic Reason,” Beenie Man on two tracks, “Damsel Ship” and “The Girl I See,” and Buccaneer with “Guiltiness.” Cobra added “Certain Girl,” while Frisco Kid’s “Question Myself” kept the energy high. General Degree delivered “Yuh Nuh Love,” and Lady Saw appeared twice with “No Long Talking” and “Ole' Wukka Rude Boy.” Little Kirk & Alley Cat joined forces on “Nineties Trample.” Each track carried the classic dancehall sound, making the riddim a favorite for late-night sessions. The artists on this release were all well-known in the dancehall scene. Beenie Man, who performed “Damsel Ship” and “The Girl I See,” had already made a name for himself with hits like “Who Am I (Sim Simma),” which would later become an international success. Buccaneer, featured on “Guiltiness,” was recognized for his pirate-themed style and the hit single “Boom Bye Bye.” Cobra, with “Certain Girl,” was famous for his energetic delivery and the song “Flex,” which reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. Frisco Kid, General Degree, Lady Saw, and Alley Cat each brought their own style, showing the variety in 1990s dancehall. The producer behind the riddim, RUDE BOY/SHOCKING VIBES, was known for working with top dancehall acts. Shocking Vibes Productions, founded by Patrick Roberts, was one of the leading labels in Jamaica. The studio’s work on this release showed why yard studios were so important in 1996, keeping the sound fresh and the parties going.
