Jamaica’s 2012 dancehall circuit was still in that raw, street-side mode when Atila Records put out CV Riddim, a blunt, gun-talk set with just enough playful swagger to keep it moving. John Gibeon’s “Black Smoke Gunpowder” and CV’s own “Have Wi Gun Pan Wi” set the tone, while Atta Klaps comes through with “Affi Reach Di Top” and First Born’s “Babylon” gives the riddim a harder, more confrontational edge. The pattern here is familiar in the best way: spare drums, sharp one-drop energy, and vocals that ride the beat without crowding it, with CV returning twice more on “Grab Up Yuh Pussy (Good Pussy Gal)” and “Tek Gunshot. ” Eleven cuts, seven voices, and plenty of mileage in that 2012 dancehall pocket, right down to the last gunshot.
