Cross Breed Riddim – Cross Di Watas Records

Cross Di Watas wasn’t usually the first name you’d associate with heavyweight 2006 dancehall, but Cross Breed puts the imprint in a sharper, tougher light: a compact six-cut set with no dead weight and a grimy pulse running through the whole thing. Anthony B’s “Weed Party” and Elephant Man’s “Dance to Di Rhythm” set the tone early, while Sizzla’s “Man A Warriors” and Turbulence’s “Bounce with Di Natty” push it into more militant territory without losing the bounce. Lukie D’s “Two Face” adds a smoother edge before the instrumental closes things out, and the version track keeps the arrangement lean and purpose-built, with enough room for each voice to cut through the riddim’s raw, springy knock.
