Crazy Jab Riddim (2012) – Platta Studio

Out of Barbados’ jab-jab season, Crazy Jab Riddim catches that carnival-day heat and keeps it moving with a tight five-track lineup that leans hard into soca’s party pulse. Platta Studio keeps the set lean, letting the voices do the heavy lifting: Lil Rick opens with “Ravers, ” Denise Belfon cuts loose on “Bam Bam (Trouble), ” and Skinny Fabulous drives “Shell Down Dat” with the kind of command that suits a road-ready riddim. Gorg’s “Dont Play Wid Me” adds another sharp turn, but the project’s center of gravity is the way these cuts sit on the same gritty, mischievous groove. That mix of veteran names and local energy gives the 2012 release its snap, and Skinny Fabulous’ performance lands the hardest by the time the riddim drops out.
