Soca Future Riddim – Nu Generation Studios

Nu Generation Studios’ Soca Future Riddim sits in that early-2010s Trinidad soca moment when producers were trimming things down to five tight cuts and aiming straight at fete season. Iwer George’s “Jump Up Ting” is the obvious crowd-raiser here, all motion and jump-up pressure, while Blaxx leans into the cheekier, more commanding side of the riddim on “Leh Go. ” Cassi’s “Whistle And Horn” and Olatunji’s “Wah Do” keep the energy bright and playful, with Miss Alysha’s “Whole Day” smoothing it out just enough to give the set some lift between the bigger pushes. The whole project runs just over 15 minutes, and even though it was issued later digitally, the music itself belongs to 2012, right in the heart of that post-carnival soca cycle.
