Couranic Riddim – Peela Productions

Couranic has that early-2010s dancehall juggling feel: a compact 2013 Peela Productions set with eight artists working over nine cuts, including a raw and radio version of Xyclone’s “Nuh Bwoy” and a closing riddim mix that ties the whole thing together. Erup’s “Quint (Wink) Gyal Affi Roll” kicks things off with a sharp, playful turn, while Nowlege’s “Work Hard” and Briggy Benz’s “Real Gyalis” keep the energy in straight talk and streetwise posture. The selection leans toward hard-edged, everyday dancehall rather than any glossy crossover move, and that gives the project its shape. Still, the track that leaves the deepest imprint is Xyclone’s “Nuh Bwoy, ” especially in the raw take, where the hook and delivery lock into the riddim with the kind of bite that carries a juggling forward.
