Cool Shade Riddim (2008) – Not Nice Productions

Cool Shade Riddim keeps its focus tight with just six cuts and a compact cast, but the big pull here is the Vybz Kartel trio, especially the raw and edited versions of “Whine, ” which anchor the juggling with that cold, militant 2008 dancehall feel. Not Nice Productions leans into a stripped-back, bass-heavy groove that leaves plenty of room for Blak Ryno’s “Real Badman” and Demarco’s “Head Shot” to hit hard, while Jah Vinci’s “Xmas Story” adds a slightly softer edge without breaking the momentum. The whole set plays like a sharp, no-frills slice of that era’s Gaza-heavy sound, ending on a tune that keeps the project moving rather than easing off.
