Cook Hennessy Riddim – Kheil Stone Production

Kheil Stone Production, working here under the Kheil Stone Music/KSM banner, had already established a small but recognizable lane in dancehall by 2011: tuneful, selector-friendly juggling with enough room for deejays to cut loose. Cook Hennessy sits in that space with a straight-ahead groove and a heavy bounce that leaves the bassline doing most of the talking. It’s the kind of riddim that moves like it was meant for sound system use first and streaming second.

The lineup is anchored by Delly Ranx, who voices both Cook Hennessy and Jimbilin, and Sizzla, whose Ketch A Fire gives the juggling one of its sharpest moments. Delly Ranx has long been one of dancehall’s most reliable chanters when the subject is weed, partying, or streetwise chat, and he settles comfortably into that zone here. Sizzla, already deep into a career built on conscious fire, lover’s energy, and commanding delivery, cuts through the rhythm with the sort of intensity that can make even a mid-tempo dancehall cut feel urgent.

Elsewhere, the cast leans on names that fit the era’s rough-edged, club-ready dancehall: Da Professor, Dainjahmental, Esco Da Shocker, Flex Di Arckitec, Froggy, Kevin Lloyd, Kibaki, Martina, and Mega Banton. The project feels less about novelty than about giving a sturdy beat enough voices to test its range. Mega Banton’s Banger brings veteran weight, while the lighter, flirtier cuts keep the set from becoming one-note. On a riddim built for juggling, that balance is what gives Cook Hennessy its pull.
