COFFEE STREET RIDDIM (SOCA) – OPTIMUS PRODUCTIONS TT 2013
Coffee Street Overview
The truck anthem base of the Coffee Street Riddim is still remembered today as a true Carnival anthem from 2013. When this riddim dropped, DJs could not get enough. They kept reloading the tracks, and the crowd wanted more every time. The energy was high, and the music brought everyone together on the road. Looking back, the Coffee Street Riddim stands out because of the artists who voiced on it. Shurwayne Winchester’s “Friday” was a big highlight. Shurwayne is known for his powerful voice and stage presence. He won the Road March title in Trinidad & Tobago in 2004 with “The Band Coming,” so fans already expected strong Carnival vibes from him. Peter Ram’s “Feeling Nice” was another crowd favorite. Peter Ram, from Barbados, is famous for his hit “Good Morning,” which became an anthem across the Caribbean in 2016. Dev gave the party energy with “Wuk It N Wuk It,” and Sean Caruth kept the momentum with “Push It Back.” Tricia’s “Leave Meh” added a strong female voice to the mix, giving the riddim a full, balanced sound. Each artist brought their own style, but all fit perfectly with the lively, upbeat feel of the Coffee Street Riddim. The producer behind this riddim made sure every track had that infectious, festival-ready sound. The beats were crisp, and the melodies were catchy. In 2013, the Coffee Street Riddim was everywhere during Carnival. Today, reggae and soca fans still talk about how this riddim made the trucks and the crowds move as one.
