In 2008, when dancehall was still riding heavily on stark, speaker-rattling one-riddim sets, Augie Doggie’s Coast To Coast Riddim pulled together a tidy six-cut lineup with veteran names doing the talking. Sizzla’s “Blackman” and Spragga Benz’s “Slow” give the riddim its strongest push, while Merciless’ “The Powa” keeps the energy sharp and a little cheeky, all over a stripped-down, straight-ahead dancehall groove that leaves plenty of room for the voices to cut through. Mad Anju and Romeo round out the vocal side, and Augie Doggie closes the set with the title cut. The release runs six tracks deep, with one instrumental backbone and five vocal performances around it.
