CHUNE RIDDIM produced by DROP DI BASS ENTERTAINMENT 2012
Chune Overview
In 2012, the dancehall scene was ready for something fresh, and DROP DI BASS ENTERTAINMENT delivered just that. Known for pushing the sound of modern dancehall, this producer and label had already made a name with earlier riddim projects that found their way into selectors’ crates across Jamaica and beyond. When they built the Chune Riddim, it was clear from the start that this one was made for the dance floor. The riddim’s journey began in the studio, where DROP DI BASS ENTERTAINMENT layered heavy bass and crisp percussion. Soon, some of dancehall’s most respected voices joined the project. Nino Brown teamed up with Kruger for "Weh Mi Like Feat. Kruger," a track that quickly became a crowd favorite. Kruger’s energy on the song matched Nino Brown’s catchy flow, making it a standout. Capleton, already famous for hits like "Jah Jah City," brought his fire to "Hot." His presence on any riddim is a seal of approval, and here, he delivered with the same intensity that made him a legend. Teflon’s "Love Mi Wifey" added a romantic touch, showing the riddim could work for both the hardcore and the lovers’ crowd. Cee Gee’s "Martian Ways" brought a unique vibe, helping the riddim stand out from the many others released that year. From the first night selectors dropped these tunes, the dance floor responded.
