Already by the time the Chuck Norris Riddim rolls in, you can hear it’s aiming for the floor rather than the radio, with Superlynks and Renegade Productions keeping the arrangement tight and percussive, then letting the singers ride the groove instead of crowding it. The line-up is compact — Farmer Ubu, Gorg, I-Octane and Mole — and that makes I-Octane’s “What A Way” the clearest hook in the set, while Gorg’s two cuts push the patois-heavy party angle a little harder. This 2015 soca release stays in a brisk, step-forward lane, driven by clipped drum patterns, a bright melodic figure and a bassline that doesn’t linger so much as bounce, leaving the vocals to jab and dart over the rhythm.
