CANNIBAL RIDDIM produced by JAZZY CREATIONS 1997
Cannibal Overview
Cannibal Riddim was released in Jamaica in 1997, right at the heart of the dancehall scene. This compilation quickly became a favorite in street dances, thanks to its tough, street anthem base that brought real energy to every party. The project features a strong lineup of artists. Gumption stands out with “Hottest Girl,” adding his signature style. Old D is also included with “Request The Loving,” a track that shows his smooth delivery. Scrooge delivers “Unda Cella,” bringing a raw vibe. Gowdie Ranks, known for his 1990s hit “Girl Dem Want Mi,” appears here with “Ready Fi Di World.” Robo Cop, who gained attention for his unique voice in the late 1990s, is featured on “Tie the Man.” At the center of this project is producer Jazzy Creations. Known for shaping the sound of late 1990s dancehall, Jazzy Creations worked with several up-and-coming artists during that era. The riddim’s tight production and heavy basslines reflect Jazzy Creations’ talent for creating music that fits both street dances and yard parties. The Cannibal Riddim captured the real spirit of 1997 dancehall. Its tracks were played everywhere, from street corners to big sound system events, and it remains a strong example of the music from that time.
