Callin Riddim – R.G Pyramid Records

A nice slice of 2018 roots-reggae energy, this one leans on a steady, mid-tempo groove and a cast of nine singers who each approach the same rhythm from a different angle. Luciano’s “Nah Sell Out” is the obvious anchor, bringing that seasoned, straight-ahead delivery he’s built a career on, while Ras Kinah’s “Don’t You Fed Up” has a more pointed, pleading edge that fits the title well. Kojo Blacks’ “The Prayer” and Jah Shane’s “Watch Over We” keep the spiritual tone front and centre, so the whole set feels conscious without getting stiff. R. G Pyramid Records lined up the project in April 2018, and the tracklist keeps the focus tight: no filler, just one riddim carried by voices that know how to work a message.
