Calabash Reloaded Riddim – Ranch Entertainment

A lean, straight-ahead dancehall cut with just enough room for two voices, Calabash Reloaded Riddim keeps Ranch Entertainment’s 2013 follow-up tight and unfussy, more like a sharp single-prompt than a sprawling juggling. With only I-Octane and Queenie Catora on the tracklist, the focus stays on the contrast between his easy night-out swagger on “One More Night Of Fun” and her brighter, money-minded turn on “Money Come. ” The riddim’s title points back to Ranch’s earlier Calabash project from 2012, but this one pares the idea right down and leaves the tension on the vocals rather than the lineup. I-Octane gets the final word here, and his cut carries the heavier pull, sounding like the tune the whole exercise was leaning toward.
