Burdz Overview
The Burdz Riddim is a standout soca project from 2011 that brought together some of the top talents in Trinidad and Tobago’s music scene. Behind the scenes, PRECISION RECORDS played a key role. This label, founded by producer Kasey Phillips, is known for crafting many popular soca riddims and has worked with leading Caribbean artists. Their attention to detail helped make the Burdz Riddim a favorite at fetes and road marches that year. The riddim features energetic performances from Erphaan Alves, Machel Montano, Shal Marshall, Swappi 4D, and Nebula868. Each artist brought their own style to the mix. Erphaan Alves contributed the lively track “On D Spot,” showing the vocal talent that would help him become a regular name in soca. Machel Montano, often called the “King of Soca,” delivered “Time For Work.” Montano is known for his powerful stage presence and has won multiple Road March titles in Trinidad and Tobago. Shal Marshall added “Wine Yuh Body,” a song that got crowds moving. Swappi 4D & Nebula868 teamed up for “Bad,” bringing even more energy to the project. These songs became part of 2011’s essential soca playlists, helping to define the sound of the season. The Burdz Riddim remains a strong example of teamwork and creativity in soca music.
