BUN BUN RIDDIM produced by NATURAL BRIDGE 2001
Bun Bun Overview
In 2001, dancehall selectors were looking for fresh sounds to keep parties moving. The Bashment scene was full of energy, and every DJ wanted the next big riddim to play in the dance. The Bun Bun Riddim quickly became a favorite, filling dance floors across Jamaica and beyond. Behind the mixing board, the producer known as NATURAL BRIDGE played a major role. NATURAL BRIDGE, a Jamaican label and production team, was known for working with many top dancehall artists. They helped shape the sound of early 2000s dancehall and brought new names into the spotlight. The Bun Bun Riddim project gave both established and new artists a chance to shine. Beenie Man, already famous for songs like “Who Am I (Sim Simma),” delivered “Life Is Good,” bringing his signature style to the riddim. Cobra, known for his energetic delivery, contributed “Get Your Own Man.” Elephant Man, who would later score international hits like “Pon De River Pon De Bank,” kept the crowd jumping with “Me Lef Some.” Kiprich, another rising star, added “Just Go Girl.” Sean Paul, who went on to win a Grammy for his album “Dutty Rock,” gave fans “Bounce With Me.” Other voices on the riddim included Stranger with “Say Wha You Say,” Wayne Marshall with “Earthquake Shake,” and Wayne Wonder with “She Look.” The Bun Bun Riddim was a key part of dancehall playlists in 2001, capturing the sound and excitement of the time.
