Broken Heart Riddim – Spragga Roots

A plaintive 2001 cut, Broken Heart Riddim leans into the wounded-lovers side of reggae with a compact eight-song run from Spragga Roots. Anthony Cruz opens with “Single Once Again, ” then George Nooks and Lukie D keep the mood tender and reflective before Natural Black’s “Black Woman Dont Cry” and Norrisman’s “Live It Up” pull the set a little deeper into conscious territory. Paul Elliot and Ras Charmer add their own shades of heartbreak, but the final word belongs to Sanchez, whose title track lands like the emotional center of the whole juggling sequence.
