BRIMSTONE RIDDIM produced by PK PRODUCTIONS 2013
Brimstone Overview
In 2013, the Brimstone Riddim became a standout sound in dancehall. The journey began in Kingston, where PK PRODUCTIONS, known for working with rising and established artists, started shaping the project. The label had already built a reputation for sharp, modern dancehall releases, and Brimstone was no exception. The bashment arranger brought a fresh, energetic style, blending classic dancehall with a new edge that fit the year’s vibe. As the riddim took shape, PK PRODUCTIONS invited a select group of artists to voice their tracks. Delus, who was already recognized for hits like “What Tomorrow May Bring,” delivered “Fine U Out,” a song that added both melody and grit. Vybrant, known for his single “Ears Hard,” came with “Dem Ago Regret,” giving the riddim a conscious, streetwise energy. Hyah Slice’s “Plastic Smile” stood out with its catchy hook and honest lyrics. Tony Frass contributed “Bad Fire,” bringing a rougher, more aggressive tone, while Jordashe added “Fake Friends,” reflecting on loyalty and trust. Terrific’s “Come Over,” Jahkime’s “Feel My Pain,” Soulindi’s “Rising,” and J’s “Make Up” rounded out the compilation, each adding their own flavor. When Brimstone Riddim was released, it quickly became a favorite in dances and on radio. The combination of PK PRODUCTIONS’ sharp production and the artists’ strong performances captured the spirit of 2013 dancehall. Even today, listening to Brimstone Riddim brings back the energy and excitement of that time.
