Niney The Observer’s Blood And Fire Riddim, first cut in 1971 for an unknown label, captures that early roots period with a raw, urgent feel and a small but sharp lineup. The set brings together Niney’s own Blood And Fire and Observer Station, plus The Observers’ Lightning And Thunder and Big Youth’s Whole Lot A Fire, with Big Youth’s cut arriving a little later in 1974. Niney Holness was already emerging as one of the key figures in Jamaican production at the time, and this rhythm helped establish the Blood and Fire name as a memorable part of his catalogue.
