Blink Riddim – Black Shadow

Black Shadow’s Blink Riddim sits a little cleaner and nimbler than the harder-edged club juggernauts the label was cutting around the same time, with Troyton’s production leaning into a taut, skippy bounce and a bright, pinging pulse that keeps the bassline moving without getting too heavy. Beenie Man’s “My Life” and Assassin’s “Roll” set the pace early, while Mad Cobra and Mr. Easy bring the sort of rude-boy swagger that keeps the rhythm from feeling polished to death. Sasha’s “I Love The Way” adds a sweeter touch in the middle of the set, and the instrumental version gives you the full shape of the riddim at the end, all crisp drums and sharp synth accents.
