BLACKER SHADE RIDDIM produced by REAL SQUAD RECORDS 2021
Blacker Shade Overview
In 2021, dancehall music was alive with energy, and the sound system culture was thriving. That year, a standout project came from REAL SQUAD RECORDS, a label known for supporting fresh talent and powerful riddims. REAL SQUAD RECORDS had already built a reputation for quality productions in the Jamaican music scene, helping to push new sounds into the spotlight. On this release, each artist brought their own style. Wayne Wonder, a singer famous for his international hit "No Letting Go," teamed up with Badda General on "Big Sound." Their track captured the excitement of dancehall clashes and the pride of sound system culture. Nadine Sutherland, who made history as a child star and later with the classic "Action," joined Zj Liquid for "Bad Card," adding her strong vocals and experience to the riddim. Shinehead, known for blending reggae and hip hop since the 1980s, worked with Badda General on "Spit Fyah," a tune full of energy and attitude. Singer J, respected for his unique voice, contributed "Dem Dead," while Patexx delivered "Straight," keeping the dancehall spirit alive. Other artists like Galaxy P with "Ole Skalawa," Wasp on "Get Up Stand Up," Spayde876’s "Boom Draw," and Lazer Maytrix with "Last Days" all added their own flavor. Badda General also stepped out solo on "Sound Check." For dancehall fans, 2021 cannot be remembered without this release. The riddim’s rebellious spirit and the strong lineup made it a highlight for both selectors and crowds.
