Beginning Riddim – Dynasty Records

Dynasty Records keeps Beginning Riddim compact and straight to the point, with just four cuts and a spare reggae pulse that leaves plenty of room for the voices to breathe. Gyptian’s “Everytime” is the easy hook here, smooth and sentimental, while Sizzla leans into the more devotional side of “Be by My Side” and Dway’s “The Time is Now” adds a younger, urgent edge to the set. The instrumental version lets the production speak for itself: clean drum programming, a warm bass line, and that unfussy one-drop feel that was still shaping a lot of early-2010s reggae records. It’s a short 2012 release, but the balance between melody, message, and a tidy riddim cut gives it a very exact period feel.
