Bay Rifle Riddim – Yb Records

Tense and lean, Bay Rifle Riddim came out of YB Records in 2017 with just five cuts and no wasted motion, the sort of dancehall set that keeps its focus on the title’s hard-edged mood. Adonvi’s “Time fi di Duty” sets the tone with a militant pull, while Kriz Kapital’s “Nah Tek It” and Dipherence’s “Rather Dead” push the same rough, no-nonsense energy from different angles. The whole thing runs a tight 12 minutes and has the feel of a quick-fire studio exercise rather than a sprawling compilation, with Jimmy Clock’s “Mi Lonely” slipping in a more personal note before the final track fades out, almost like an afterthought.
