Basalt Riddim – Concrete Production

A low-slung, no-frills dancehall cut, Basalt Riddim keeps the focus on a hard, stony pulse rather than any flashy ornament. Concrete Production lines up eight voices across 11 tracks, with clean-and-raw versions for Powerman, CV, and Speng Beng sitting beside one-off cuts from CK Progmatic, Ghandi, Peligro, Frassman Brilliant, and Elly Gan. The strongest pull comes from the way the songs ride that weighty instrumental bed: tight drums, a clipped forward motion, and a bassline that stays firm without crowding the vocal. Frassman Brilliant’s “Up Again” and Ghandi’s “Eye Openah” fit the groove especially well, while Peligro’s “They So” adds a sharper edge with K. Bae in tow.
