BANTON BANDITS RIDDIM produced by THE 4’20’ SOUND 2017
Banton Bandits Overview
In 2017, reggae fans got something special with the Banton Bandits Riddim. This roots riddim came at a time when reggae was mixing old and new styles. The music had the deep bass and steady drums that roots reggae is known for, but it also sounded fresh and lively. This made it stand out in the reggae scene. The producer behind this project was THE 4’20’ SOUND. Known for keeping the real island sound alive, THE 4’20’ SOUND has worked to bring roots reggae to new listeners. They have a history of producing reggae projects that respect the roots but also bring something new. Their work on Banton Bandits Riddim helped keep the storytelling and feeling of classic reggae strong. The artists on this riddim each brought their own style. Parly B gave us “Dance,” a track full of energy and flow. Parly B is known for his powerful delivery and has worked with many reggae and dancehall producers. Deadly Hunta’s “Love Reggae Music” showed his love for the genre. Deadly Hunta is respected for his conscious lyrics and unique voice. Gappy Ranks added “Buckingham Palace” to the riddim. Gappy Ranks is well known for his hit “Heaven in Her Eyes,” which made it onto the UK reggae charts. Baptiste joined with “Banton Bandits,” adding another layer to the project. THE 4’20’ SOUND also contributed their own version, “Banton Bandits Riddim,” tying the whole project together.
