Badman Place Riddim (2007) – Greensleeves Records

Greensleeves usually gets associated with broad catalogue work and reissues, but Badman Place comes through as a tight, early-2000s dancehall unit rather than a sprawling showcase, with just four vocal cuts and a dub version. The lineup is lean and pointed: Busy Signal and Mavado lock into the title tune, Delly Ranks rides “Get Busy, ” Erup drops “Gunshot, ” and Mega Banton returns to the same “Get Busy” cut from a rougher, more veteran angle. The riddim itself has that hard, clipped mids-2000s pulse, with a taut drum pattern, heavy low-end throb, and plenty of open space for the voices to cut through. It’s a short set, but the arrangement keeps the focus on sharp delivery and militant phrasing, ending in a stripped version that lets the bassline and snare snap do the talking.
