BACKYARD RIDDIM produced by MADHOUSE RECORDS
Backyard Overview
Backyard Riddim is a dancehall classic that set the mood for 1998. The riddim is bold and energetic, with strong drum patterns and catchy horn melodies. Its sound is lively, making it perfect for both dancing and listening. Each track on the riddim has its own flavor, but all of them share the same powerful groove. Baby Cham stands out with “Boom Tune,” showing his sharp delivery and unique style. Baby Cham later became famous for his hit song “Ghetto Story,” but “Boom Tune” was one of his early tracks that helped build his name. Bounty Killer brings his commanding voice on “Show Mi Dem,” while teaming up with Wayne Wonder for “Criss Pack,” a song that mixes Bounty Killer’s rough edge with Wayne Wonder’s smooth singing. Wayne Wonder, known for his international hit “No Letting Go,” also shines solo on “Are You Ready” and “Punaany Holiday.” Frisco Kid adds his own energy with “Calico,” bringing more variety to the riddim. The riddim was produced by MADHOUSE RECORDS, a label started by Dave Kelly. Dave Kelly is one of Jamaica’s most respected producers, known for creating some of dancehall’s biggest riddims, including “Showtime” and “Joyride.” MADHOUSE RECORDS helped shape the sound of modern dancehall and gave many artists their big break. Backyard Riddim still brings back memories of 1998. Its sound captures the spirit of that year and remains a favorite for dancehall fans today.
