ATTITUDE RIDDIM produced by STARGATE RECORDZ 1999
Attitude Overview
In 1999, three big names in dancehall—Beenie Man, Little Kirk, and Frisco Kid—came together on a popular riddim that made waves in street dances. Beenie Man, known for his international hit "Who Am I (Sim Simma)" and often called the "King of Dancehall," added his unique style to the track "Have You Ever." Little Kirk, a respected voice in reggae and dancehall, also recorded his own version of "Have You Ever." Frisco Kid, another talented artist from Jamaica, brought energy to the riddim with his song "Sergent Smith." The sound system cut of this riddim was a favorite at bashment parties in 1999. DJs and selectors loved to play it, and it quickly became a must-hear in the dancehall scene. The driving force behind this release was STARGATE RECORDZ. This production team, based in Norway, became well-known for their work in both reggae and pop music. STARGATE RECORDZ later produced international hits for artists like Rihanna and Ne-Yo, but in the late 1990s, they were making a mark in the dancehall world. The Attitude Riddim’s upbeat sound and catchy hooks made it perfect for the dancefloor. Its popularity in street dances helped cement its place as a true dancehall classic from that era.
