Three vocal cuts and a version make Area Leader a lean little 2006 dancehall set, with Delly Ranks and Chino opening the thing on the title tune before Elephant Man steps in with “Tight” and Freddie McGregor cools the pace on “Rudeboy. ” Stephen McGregor’s name sits behind some of the year’s biggest dancehall work, and this one carries that clean, sharp mid-2000s energy: bright synth lines, a tight digital swing, and enough room for each voice to land without crowding the riddim. It’s a short package, but the order tells the story well, moving from clash-ready talk to Elephant Man’s party pressure and then into Freddie’s smoother pull, before closing on the bare Area Leader version.
